Afghan president: US forces killed 16 civilians

Does this mean that Keith Olbermann, Dennis Kucinich and that other mental case Chris Matthews will call for Obama to be impeached for war crimes? I am waiting?

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - President Hamid Karzai condemned a U.S. operation he said killed 16 Afghan civilians, while hundreds of villagers denounced the American military during an angry demonstration Sunday.

Karzai said the killing of innocent Afghans during U.S. military operations "is strengthening the terrorists."

He also announced that his Ministry of Defense sent Washington a draft technical agreement that seeks to give Afghanistan more oversight over U.S. military operations. The same letter has also been sent to NATO headquarters.

Karzai in recent weeks has increasingly lashed out at his Western backers over the issue of civilian casualties, even as U.S. politicians and a top NATO official have publicly criticized Karzai for the slow pace of progress here.

The back-and-forth comes as the new administration of President Barack Obama must decide whether to support Karzai as he seeks re-election later this year as part of the United States' overall Afghan strategy.

Karzai's latest criticism follows a Saturday raid in Laghman province that the U.S. says killed 15 armed militants, including a woman with an RPG, but that Afghan officials say killed civilians.

US Marines ready to deploy up to 20,000 troops to Afghanistan

A far left winger like Obama in charge of this war now? I feel very bad for these Marines, because the American idiots just made their job IMPOSSIBLE.

This is being done by Obama for several reasons:

1. To pull out of Iraq so we lose the tactical advantage that was gained over Iran. The blood and sweat to gain the Iraq victory will be wasted very soon. This is disgraceful and it is treason.

2. To break the US Military and the eonomy further to the point that we have to just surrender to the World Socialist Government. Economic and military collapse equals Socialist NWO.

3. To trick the conservative movement to support him, because he knows that they are more patriotic than the left wing scum.

Up to 20,000 US Marines could be deployed to Afghanistan after an expected Marine withdrawal from Iraq within six to eight months, Marine Commandant James Conway said Friday.

"The time is right for Marines to leave Iraq," the top Marine officer said, reflecting on the improved security situation there.

As part of the drawdown in Iraq, Conway said he expected "20,000 or less" Marines to be deployed to Afghanistan, although he cautioned against sending too many troops from the corps to Afghanistan.

That deployment would help fulfill the up to 30,000 troops military planners have proposed to inject in Afghanistan within the next 18 months to bolster the approximately 33,000 US troops already there, including 2,200 Marines. Another 142,000 US troops are in Iraq.
Marines "have been steadily removing equipment from theater in Iraq," he said. "The timeline we think today is down to six to eight months to get the rest of our equipment out of Iraq."

There are currently more than 20,000 Marines deployed in Iraq.

NYPD OFFICER KILLED BY ROADSIDE BOMB IN AFGHANISTAN

An NYPD cop serving with the army in Afghanistan was killed by a roadside bomb on Wednesday, his relatives said.

Officer Deon L. Taylor, from the Bronx, had shipped out in January on his second tour in the country, which has seen the number of violent attacks by insurgents spike dramatically in the last few months.

"He wanted to do the right thing," said Taylor's uncle, Mo Weathers, who is an NYPD detective.

"He's a father, brother, and a son. A good person. We're in disbelief and deep grief."

Taylor, 30, a narcotics cop who worked undercover in Brooklyn, was serving with the Army National Guard. He was one of 258 NYPD cops currently on military leave.

Though no casualties were officially named, the U.S. military reported that a roadside bomb in western Afghanistan killed three coalition members on Wednesday – the only casualties that day. They had been traveling in a military vehicle.

Taylor, who had an 8-year-old son from a previous marriage and was engaged to be married again next year, had been sent to Afghanistan to train soldiers, his uncle said.

"I saw the soldiers knocking on his mom's door this morning," said neighbor Annie Roberts.

"Then I heard screaming, and I knew."

The number of U.S. service personnel killed in Iraq in May was the fewest in any month since the war began in 2003 -- a positive trend Williams, unlike his colleagues at ABC and CBS, failed to share with his viewers two weeks ago.

Next Attack Coming Out of Pakistan

Any future terror attack against US interests would most likely be carried out by Islamic militants based in Pakistan's restive tribal belt bordering Afghanistan, the top US military official said Tuesday.

Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a press conference that tribal groups with ties to Al-Qaeda in Pakistan's federally administered tribal area represent the worst security threat to the United States.

"I believe fundamentally if the United States is going to get hit, it is going to come out of the planning of the leadership in the FATA -- Al-Qaeda specifically," he told reporters.

"That is a threat to us that must be dealt with," Mullen said of the radical groups sheltering in the no-man's land between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
